The Lawn Grill and Salad Cafe

A new cafe for the "green-lovers".  The concept of this cafe is pretty interesting.  Here's how it goes:
1. Choose your preferred serving size
2. Choose your preferred grill (I chose Pacific Dory with fresh fruit rub and herbs)
3. Choose your preferred greens, toppings and dressing (I chose baby potatoes, cashew nuts, eggs, and maple peanut dressing).

Tada!  2 pieces of herbed dory fillet.  Perhaps I am not used to the taste of herbs, it tasted a little jerlat after a while.  Other than that, the portion is already quite decent (ie. enough for me) with the potatoes, eggs and cashew nuts)

Topped up $1 for the mushroom (small size).

Kitchen and front counter at The Lawn.  It is a nice cosy cafe, except that seats may be limited during the lunch rush hour.

Sandwich Obsession @ Coffee Club

Coffee Club is having a sandwich promotion now.  Selected sandwiches comes with a complimentary smoothie (regular price: $6.90).

I had a Norwegian Catch which comes in layers of warm smoked salmon, sliced eggs and toasted tomato.  It comes with a serving of french fries.  This sandwich-smoothie combo costs $15.90.

The food finally arrived after a 30-min wait. The Holland Village outlet was terribly short-handed with only 2 service staff.  One of service staff was also the barista.  At one point, the cafe ran short of culteries and cups for take-away drinks.  My colleagues sitting at the cushioned seats were being asked (politely by the service staff) to give way so that they could get cups stored under the seats for our take-away drinks.  Under such stress, it was unevitable that the barista made a mistake for one of my colleagues' drinks, but she had to turn down the offer for a change because we had already exceeded our lunch time....

Jones the Grocer

Jones the Grocer
Location: Blk 9 #01–12 Dempsey Road
Operational Hours: Mon 9:30am - 6:00pm
Tue - Fri 9:30am - 11:00pm
Sat - Sun 9:00am - 11:00pm
Tel: (65) 6476 1512

Located in the colonial style Dempsey Hill, this is a place where you can eat, if you're particularly hungry for cheese, and shop for grocery, mainly Australian products, since Jones originates from Australia and the Dempsey outlet is their 1st South-east Asian outlet.

The grocery section. Check out the high ceiling...

The deli section with long wooden tables and wooden chairs. A rather laid-back culture.

A snapshot of how its menu looks like altho this is a brunch and not lunch menu.

Cheese platter shared by 5 of us. One of the long white strip of cheese has a strong goat smell...supposed that is goat cheese? The other white cheese and orange coloured cheese tasted ok. It went well with the bland black biscuit. Have no idea why it is black - some said it is made of charcoal?!

The dried grapes were good, except that it would have been better if there were no seeds.

My honey baked ham sandwich ($11.50), squashed with loads of tomato and salsa. Thumbs up especially when it was served while the filling was still hot.

A close-up shot of my sandwich.
While the food quality is good, do not expect high service standards as they seem to have the same laid back culture, back home - Australia.
