Artease Cafe ~ Roasted Rice Milk Tea

I was contemplating what post-lunch beverage to get when I chanced upon this big poster outside the café.  The taste of Korean Barley Tea (보리차) came to my mind almost instantly and I wonder if this Roasted Rice Milk Tea would taste similar to the Barley tea except that I have the choice on the sugar level for the milk tea.  To satisfy my curiosity, I decided to give it a try!

Sample of the roasted rice tea was on display at the counter.  The rice grains do look somewhat big and they look like barley grains too!

The end product is pure white in colour, just like that we see on the poster.  The taste of the roast rice mik tea is pretty light and refreshing with a toasty taste!  I had asked for 50% sugar and I reckon that I could possibly reduce to 25% next time, so that the roast rice tea fragrant can become the main taste.

Other than tea, Artease also serve coffee and fries with a variety of seasonings.  That's how the fries look if you order the original flavour, which comes with a light stash of herbs.

Enjoy a cuppa with some fries at the café sounds like a good plan, for a quite afternoon.

Just Buns

If you happen to be at 313@Somerset and looking for something to snack, do consider these soft cinnamon buns from Just Buns (located at B3-49), next to Prima Deli stall.  The ones you see below are Cheese & Almond bun and Oreo bun.

The buns ($1.50 each) are freshly baked and are really soft and fragrant.  Fret not the strong cinnamon smell, the cinnamon taste in these buns are light and just right.  Just check out the cream cheese topped with almond and chocolate fudge topped with crushed oreo, they are simply irresistable!!

There are also other interesting flavours such as Just Durian, Just Chempedak, Just Banana etc, which I will return to try them one of these days.

Yamakawa Super

Those who has been snack shopping with me know that I am fussy when I shop for snacks - snacks made in some countries are out of my list. Fortunately, Japanese snacks is on my 'yes' list.
This is DE place to go for Japanese snacks lovers - Yamakawa Super.
Address: B1-28B, The Central, 6 Eu Tong Sen Street
Tel: 6534-9518
Opening hours: 11am to 10pm daily.

Check out the racks of snacks!!! Wish I can buy everything home!!

In the end this is what I bought - Doritos ($2.20), Bourbon potato chips ($2.80, NTUC Finest sells this at $3.30), choco cream puff ($5.50) and some Bourbon kids cookies ($1.80), which I used to envy my primary school classmates eating it but unaffordable for my family. I was surprised that the price for this kiddy cookie didn't go up all these years :P
Spent a total of $12.30 :)

Taiwan Laozhaopai - 台湾老招牌 [Closed]

Taiwan Laozhaopai - 台湾老招牌 is another snack shop at The Central @ Clarke Quay #B1-54/55 (Tel : 65347173). Well, it is self-explanatory that they specialise in Taiwanese tidbits.

Apparently, this is their 2nd shop. The first is at Marina Square.
For the Central Outlet, they have a small cafe as well.
Love their 淡水鱼酥,it looks like those we buy from mama shops since young. But you've got to try this to know the difference. Somehow, those made locally are a little too hard, little too 'floury' and not so fishy.
Once you start, you can't stop. Heehee...
$4.20 for a pack (120g)
